Alaa-
Thanks for the note. I think all, in some sense, and more...
1) We would love help with GNU/Linux setups or specific software (in the
RootSpace office, and with some of our projects);

2) in terms of promoting/advocating for free software in general, I
would love to see how we could participate/assist other projects which
are going on. For example, if LEGLUG is doing something, organizing an
event or something else, then perhaps we could help promote it, etc;

3) we are working to set up our space to support other people working on
tech/social entrepreneurship projects, including with a strong element
of technology and social networking. If someone has their own idea,
their own project, which they would like to work on, then perhaps we can
help them with that;

4) we are looking to engage/participate in a variety of other
social/tech events and contests which, if we assemble a good team, and
come up with a good idea, and we are selected, would bring us some funds
and people could get compensated/awarded for their efforts. For
example, there are two coming up that we are looking to submit things to...

In response to other messages I've received in response to this message,
let me clarify... I would love to have some people VOLUNTEER for some
parts of this work... however, I am also looking to, happily, PAY people
(with money, or space, or through a mixed set of compensation) for their
time/effort.

SOME projects also might be both... for example, regarding the community
radio project, right now we don't have any funding, in which case we are
hoping some people will be able to volunteer to help us set that up.
HOWEVER, we are planning on entering the fundraising phase very soon,
and I/we think we will be able to attract funds for this kind of
project, and when (if) those arrive, of course we plan to compensate
people for their time/energy/contributions. Yes, it's a gamble; no, I
haven't been paid for my MONTHS of work on the project; and YES, I am
working hard to try to get money to compensate me, and others who work
on the project. And yes, if it works, it will be f*%king cool... ;-)

The other example I mentioned, of having someone work in our office
(half-time with our projects, half-time with their own projects) would
also be a paid position, but we want to also find someone who would be a
solid contribution to our office community, who is working on a cool
project that would fit the goal/mission of the space, et cetera.

PERHAPS WHAT WOULD BE BEST, ... could I meet with you all sometime soon
so we could discuss this stuff? Do you have regular meetings? Want to
arrange something? Our office is in Saifi area (near the Basement, Bayt
al-Kata'ib, etc...), with a great view... could I invite you all over
here sometime in the next week or two?

Cheers,

Munir
