Hi,

I think what you're looking for is certification from Sun for
programming in Java just like you would get from Microsoft for
programming or using something that is theirs.

You can take a look at
http://www.sun.com/training/certification/java/index.xml

These certificates are pretty good for what you mentioned because they
turn you from a regular java programming into someone who knows
everything about the language including the structure of the bytecode
and whys.

Although i am not sure about NetBeans since technically it is not
relevant to java core which is what they try to teach you with this. I
might be wrong though.

Personally, i didn't do any certification. But they're good if you do
all your programming in java. Especially if you do it on Linux. The java
community has always been friendly to Linux communities and now even
more than ever(after the GPL'ing).

By the way, the documentation can mislead you or be outright
wrong(personal experience), so depend on it too much. What i typically
do is go through the source code itself which always helps.

If you have any questions regarding java in a Linux context, feel free
to go ahead and ask here and i'm sure we can help.

Regards,
Alaa Salman
