Greetings from under the bombs.
I had a similar issue on my mac G3 and alsa,I solved by having
alsa,the sound eand everything in the kernel and not as a module.
You can send dmesg output in the case where it works and the case
where itdoesn't it might help pin point the problem.
Anyways another thing it that this might be due to the motherboard
searching for devices not always in the same order (this is
speculation so don't take my word for it) and the module is loading as
it is recognised or some buggy BIOS.
