thanks BL for writing that
i used knoppix4.02 and suse 9.1 liveCD and both of them worked great with
the wired netword card. so i re-installed ubuntu 5.10 [note that during
installation, ubuntu recognizes that eth1 is a broadcom 4401 100BaseT card
and eth0 as IPW2200]. then, i compiled the latest broadcom 4401 driver
[from here
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php] and
modprobe'd bcm440, and still it did not work [like by pinging other IP's].
i'm bringing my lappy to the meeting on Saturday, if some one would have a
look at it!
